Track Our Startup: Up Next? Google Sheets & Quickbooks Online

social media examiner article: track KPIs in a dashboardThanks to a HUGE mention in a Social Media Examiner article entitled: How to Monitor Multiple Social Media Metrics in a Single Dashboard, we got hundreds of users, a ton of quality leads (Mimi had 8 demos yesterday!) and we’re half way to our new customer goal and it’s only the 10th. Thanks Brandon Olson! He’s the Content Marketing Manager at AWeber, one of our email marketing partners.

UP Next?

Josh and Nivi have been working with James and our developers closely to gear up for our next release which will probably include a bunch of Google Sheets improvements. This will be great to add more metrics to a Google Dashboard along with Google Analytics KPIs and Google Adwords KPIs. We’re also working on a whole new integration with … Quickbooks Online! More on that as we finish up development but it’s going to be cool, very cool.

After that one of our most requested integrations will be released and that’s Active Campaign. For those of you who don’t know them they’ve got a killer marketing automation product which includes email marketing and CRM.

Nivi is going to spent this week looking at the Microsoft Excel API. Even though we’re huge Google Sheets users, there’s a ton of you who still heavily use Microsoft. Sigh.

You’ll now view a table that provides your AdWords KPIs at an individual ad level. For every ad: clicks, impressions, CTR, average CPC and Cost are displayed as KPIs for the given time period.

Video Performance

The Video Performance insight is a quick snapshot of how your video ads are doing in the chosen time period. The overview insight shows high level stats like Impressions, Video Views, Video View Rate, Clicks, CPV, Cost, CTR. The insight also shows how these numbers have been trending in the given time period and gives you an indication of how your video ads have been doing.

Video Watch Rate

This multi-line insight will provide stats on the percentage of impressions where a viewer saw 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of your video ad and how this trends over a period of time. This insight can be Dasheroo Google Video Views KPIsconfigured at an Ad Account, AdGroup, Campaign or individual ad level on your Google dashboard.

  • Watch 75% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 70% of your video
  • Watch 100% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 100% of your video

How cool is that? You’ll now be able to track video viewing KPIs on your dashboard.

New Filters

In addition to new insights we have now introduced the ability to configure your Google AdWords insight at the Ad Set, Ad Campaign or individual ad level. So in addition to the overall high level stats on your AdWords account, you can set up insights at a much granular level to see how a particular ad campaign or even an individual ad is performing. Simply add a new insight and configure it in the settings panel.

We’re planning on more releases in the coming weeks, happy dashboarding!

Instagram Analytics: 3 KPIs to Focus On

In the early days of Instagram, this social media platform was often overshadowed by Twitter and Facebook. Those days have come and gone, as the photo-sharing social networking service is now a major player in this space. For this reason, a concentration on Instagram analytics is a must.

Consider the following (statistics courtesy of Instagram):

  • More than 400 million monthly actives.
  • 3.5 billion likes every day.
  • An average of 80 million photos shared every day.

So, what does all this mean? In short, you should be using Instagram as a marketing tool. As you develop a strategy for driving Instagram Analytics - Followerstraffic and increasing brand awareness, make sure you have a plan for tracking results and examining data.

Here are three data points to track:

1. Number of Followers

This is no different than other social media sites. The more followers you have the greater your reach.

At first, follower growth may be slow. But as long as you are seeing an upward trend, you should be happy with the results.

2. Highest EngagementInstagram Analytics - Highest Engagement Rate

What types of posts receive the most engagement? This includes both “likes” and “comments.”

Knowing the answer to this question allows you to create more targeted Instagram updates in the future. For example, you may find that your audience enjoys photos of your newest products. In this case, you want to focus more time and energy on these types of updates.

3. PostsInstagram Analytics - Posts

Instagram is not a social media platform you use today and revisit in a week or so. Regular updates, day in and day out, will increase your number of followers while also boosting engagement.

By tracking data related to each update, you get an inside view of what works, what doesn’t, when to post, and much more.

Final Word

With many of the top brands developing a strong Instagram marketing strategy, you should consider doing the same. This could give you a leg up on the competition. Just make sure you have a system in place for tracking your Instagram analytics.

P.S. Do you have your Instagram analytics dashboard yet? At Dasheroo it’s free!

Startup Lessons Learned: Look To Your Own Data for Leads

There are so many articles you can read about how to get more leads and there are so many companies touting they’ll dasheroo KPIs - Lead flowdouble your lead flow out there. But I’m gonna let you in on what we did here at Dasheroo to exceed our KPIs.

Our goal is to give business dashboard software away free to businesses; as a result we get a lot of people signing up. But our real mission is to convert those people into paying customers by offering premium features. That’s one of our KPIs. And we do that two ways, automation and humans! And for the human side (Mimi!) to up-sell our premium services we need to know who might fit the profile and in this case it’s agencies, consultants and marketing professionals.

At Dasheroo we already identified a few hundred of these leads which we were excited about, but it took a long time and human resource to do. So here’s what we did to boost our leads:

Step 1 – Use What You’ve Got

Our sign up form doesn’t ask a user for a ton of information, because we don’t want to deter them from coming aboard so we only ask for company name and email address but that’s a great start.

Step 2 – InsideView to the Rescue!

We use a company called InsideView to append data to what we already have. Are they 100% on the match? We find a few false matches here and there but that’s ok. We get so much valuable data including business type, employee size, geo and revenue that helps us target appropriate businesses to focus on.

Step 3 – Focus on Targeting

As we were sifting through the data we found that one piece of data InsideView appends is Industry. When looking through all of the industries that sign up for Dasheroo we found one called “Business Services.” So we looked at these companies one by one and by the look of them, 8 out of every 10 actually fit the profile. So we increased our target audience for Mimi from a few hundred to over 1000!

Step 4 – Get Them Excited

So we took that list and sent a very targeted email about Dasheroo for Agencies to this list. Mimi now has a nice flow of interest about our offering. She then qualifies, sets expectations and closes the deal. And last month she closed 12 deals, her biggest month ever! We love it when we exceed our KPIs.

Now we send follow up campaigns to the non-responders and emails to all of those new ones that come in the door! What are you doing to use your data to drive leads? Share!

Track Our Startup: Exceeded Monthly KPIs + New Release on the Way

We’ve got a ton going on between all of the work our engineering team has been doing AND beating each KPI we track! Read on!

We’ve been busy trying to get release #27 out the door. If you remember it’s some new integrations with the likes of SendGrid and some new insights for Facebook Ads and a few other apps. Court and Nivi have been knee-deep in testing mode, great work guys. We’re hoping to get it out by next week so sit tight.

Dasheroo new UI for dashboards

Dasheroo’s new UI on the way soon!

I also can’t wait until we release our new UI. It’s super slick.
Josh has been working super closely with the awesome partner team at Zapier (that amazing company that gives you hundreds of metrics on your Dasheroo dashboard) posted a great blog post announcing our integration with them. They’ll be sending an email out to all of their hundreds of thousands of users soon.
We’re going to start working on a multi-stat insight for Google Sheets, a highly requested feature from our users, pretty cool huh? You’ll be able to compare one KPI to another all in one chart!
We’ve been at work behind the scenes on a stats refresh issue. Some of our customers are noticing that updates aren’t happening hourly but maybe ever few hours so we’re looking into all of our providers to make sure the problem isn’t widespread.
We made our monthly number, I should say numbers! We exceeded all of our KPIs: our new user KPI, our new paying customer KPI and our revenue KPI, and we couldn’t be happier. We shoot to increase our KPIs 10-15% each month and so far so good! More on KPIs.
On to June!
