Track Our Startup: Up Next? Google Sheets & Quickbooks Online

social media examiner article: track KPIs in a dashboardThanks to a HUGE mention in a Social Media Examiner article entitled: How to Monitor Multiple Social Media Metrics in a Single Dashboard, we got hundreds of users, a ton of quality leads (Mimi had 8 demos yesterday!) and we’re half way to our new customer goal and it’s only the 10th. Thanks Brandon Olson! He’s the Content Marketing Manager at AWeber, one of our email marketing partners.

UP Next?

Josh and Nivi have been working with James and our developers closely to gear up for our next release which will probably include a bunch of Google Sheets improvements. This will be great to add more metrics to a Google Dashboard along with Google Analytics KPIs and Google Adwords KPIs. We’re also working on a whole new integration with … Quickbooks Online! More on that as we finish up development but it’s going to be cool, very cool.

After that one of our most requested integrations will be released and that’s Active Campaign. For those of you who don’t know them they’ve got a killer marketing automation product which includes email marketing and CRM.

Nivi is going to spent this week looking at the Microsoft Excel API. Even though we’re huge Google Sheets users, there’s a ton of you who still heavily use Microsoft. Sigh.

Austin Food Truck: Muy Delicious

There’s Chef Rabin of Muy Delicious!

Austin Food Truck!!

Our own Director of Sales Mimi and her husband have opened up an awesome FOOD TRUCK in Austin called Muy Delicious and boy does it live up to its name. Food trucks are popular there, all kinds of amazing chefs have opened them. What to eat? The Giddy Up’s Burger is to die for, the chicken Rich Ranch Tacos are amazing and My Butler’s Boneless Chicken Wings are a must-eat. If you’re in Austin on Manchaca Rd., you need to stop.

Bye for now!

Track Our Startup: We’re Finally On Vacation

This would be a a great addition to Dasheroo dashboards wouldn’t it? 🙂

Ok, we’ve been working pretty hard on your dashboards here at Dasheroo the past year and some of you who have been following us know we’re a distributed company. That said we can work from anywhere as long as we’re all ok with dealing with any customer and company issues from the time zone where that issue occurs. Everyone at Dasheroo is aok with that.

This week we’re happy to announce that one of us is in Hawaii (or is it Hawai’i?) with the family, one of his favorite places on Earth! Another member of the team is in New York visiting family with his family. The quality of life is an important aspect for all of us here at Dasheroo and to the extent we can, we take complete advantage of it.

We are big believers in living life here at Dasheroo and balancing living life with servicing customers and pushing our company along. And we’re doing it. If we could have a gauge in our dashboards for balancing work/life…we would!

So while we’re busy working on the next integrations (Quickbooks, Active Campaign) and supporting the last releases (SendGrid, Facebook Ads, Google Adwords) we’re trying to enjoy our families in the summer months. So should you, life is short.

The Presidential nominations are over (whew!), the Olympics are beginning (yikes for Rio!) and summer is in full swing. Thanks for the support, rest-assured even from a beach or camping with our kids we are still checking in hourly if not more to make sure all of your dashboards are up and running.

Cheers and happy summer!

Track Our Startup: Bug Fixin’ Your Business Dashboards

Dasheroo Engineering list of to-dos - KPIsAt Dasheroo we’ve been a bit busy getting ready for our next business dashboard release, and cleaning up after our last one, a theme you keep hearing over and over but that’s the life of a SaaS software company isn’t it?

Gone Fixin’

As with any software release there are usually a set of bugs that need fixing; bugs that were never expected but now irritate the
helloutta the masses. That’s what our product and engineering team has been working on since our mammoth release of SendGrid, Google AdWords and the Push API.

James and his team have started to go down a pretty gnarly punch list of things that need doing. You can see that it’s quite extensive. The most important one is Make dashboards load faster. Much faster. Dasheroo business dashboards: Google Analytics

So that’s what we’ve been working on, along with doing research at some next nifty integrations for your business dashboards, Quickbooks being one of them! Stay tuned on that one.

Where Are New Users Coming From?

Google drives the lion’s share of traffic for us here at Dasheroo. And since we are doing a small amount of advertising to drive leads for sales Facebook is a great source of leads that want business dashboards. You should know that Facebook runs your ads on the Facebook Audience Network. It’s basically Facebook serving ads on third party sites at a pretty low cost. For some it’s great since it’s a low cost, for us it was serving a ton of mobile ads and we weren’t getting a conversion.

Zapier continues to be a very active hose for new users and we launched with them the end of May. If you haven’t checked out all of the great things you can put on your dashboard do it!

Dasheroo business dashboards feedbackUser Feedback

We’ve been getting a ton of great feedback, users telling Alf what they want on a daily basis. Keep them coming in the door, we choose by how many requests we’re getting! Just a sample of a few on a given day –>

Cheers, John.

Track Our Startup: Now Track KPIs for SendGrid + Google Adwords

Well here at Dasheroo we’ve been busy, as usual! Hope everyone who celebrates Independence day had a great one. We sure did!

New Releases

The past two weeks we got new insights for Google AdWords out the door, you can even filter down to the AdWords campaign level and down to the ad level. You’re also going to get to see your video performance KPIs too. Pretty exciting for a lot of our users.Dasheroo SendGrid Overview

This week we’ve also just released our SendGrid integration. If you use SendGrid for your confirmation and transactional emails you’re going to LOVE this. All of your delivered, opened, click, bounce and spam rates right at your fingertips.

Up next? We’re working on some new insights so you can track KPIs for Facebook Ads. We’ve also been working on new features for our PUSH API.

James our VP of Engineering spent the week bug fixing, something all of us software developers need to do but nobody likes to do it. Thanks James.

Dasheroo Continues to Climb…

We climbing in the search results for some pretty interesting keywords. We now rank for over 2000 keyword/phrases which we think is pretty cool. We’re neck-in-neck with our main competitor and they’ve been around for years!

KPIs

We’re keeping a close eye on our KPIs for the summer month slowdown. We just want to make sure we’re forecasting properly and hitting our numbers. Of course the month started slow but we’re aiming to get just over 2100 new users. So far we keep beating expectations so hopefully July won’t be too slow!

Tell your friends about Dasheroo, Cheers.

New Release: More Google Adwords Dashboard KPIs

We’ve been marching towards this release and it’s finally here! Thanks to everyone on the team for working hard on these upgrades that our users have been asking for. You’ll also be seeing more features over the next few weeks so stay tuned!

This week we’ve made some changes to our Google AdWords insights and wanted to provide all the details. If you use Google Adwords within Dasheroo you’ll want to check this out.

Google AdWords Enhancements

Ad PerformanceDasheroo Google Adwords KPIs

You’ll now view a table that provides your AdWords KPIs at an individual ad level. For every ad: clicks, impressions, CTR, average CPC and Cost are displayed as KPIs for the given time period.

Video Performance

The Video Performance insight is a quick snapshot of how your video ads are doing in the chosen time period. The overview insight shows high level stats like Impressions, Video Views, Video View Rate, Clicks, CPV, Cost, CTR. The insight also shows how these numbers have been trending in the given time period and gives you an indication of how your video ads have been doing.

Video Watch Rate

This multi-line insight will provide stats on the percentage of impressions where a viewer saw 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of your video ad and how this trends over a period of time. This insight can be Dasheroo Google Video Views KPIsconfigured at an Ad Account, AdGroup, Campaign or individual ad level on your Google dashboard.

  • Watch 25% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 25% of your video
  • Watch 50% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 50% of your video
  • Watch 75% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 70% of your video
  • Watch 100% rate : Percentage of impressions where the viewer watched 100% of your video

How cool is that? You’ll now be able to track video viewing KPIs on your dashboard.

New Filters

In addition to new insights we have now introduced the ability to configure your Google AdWords insight at the Ad Set, Ad Campaign or individual ad level. So in addition to the overall high level stats on your AdWords account, you can set up insights at a much granular level to see how a particular ad campaign or even an individual ad is performing. Simply add a new insight and configure it in the settings panel.

We’re planning on more releases in the coming weeks, happy dashboarding!

Track Our Startup: New Release Next Week + New Users!

We’ve got a lot going on at Dasheroo that we’re pretty excited about. We’re aiming to give you the best dashboard experience ever!

Release 27

All heads down on releasing a bunch of releases over the next few weeks. A few of the features include new Insights for Google Adwords, Facebook Ads and Instagram. We’re also getting ready to announce a new SendGrid integration plus a whole lot more.

We’ve actually released a few of these already “behind edge.” All that means to us is that it’s part of the live code so we can see that it actually works with our existing code, but users can’t see it yet until the rest of the release is ready to go.

Court our stud QA engineer and Nivi our awesome Product Manager have been killing themselves to get this out, thanks guys.

We’re hoping to get this live by next week, cross your fingers for us!

New Users!Dasheroo dashboard - SEO

We’ve been inching up the SEO scale for some pretty cool keywords. We use SEM Rush to track this. It’s pretty cool.

You can see from the image on the right that we’re in pretty good shape for Instagram keywords (page 1!) and climbing for “Twitter” and “KPI”. And they get a ton of search volume…woohoo!

Dasheroo dashboard feature requests

Our Zapier announcement continues to give us a ton of new users, and a lot of new integration requests. Check this out –> this was just in one hour. Alf has been BUSY!

Mimi our Sales Director is doing a killer job closing deals. She’s already at 6 deals for the month which we love. Dasheroo dashboard - Hot leadsAnd tons of leads have been showing up at our site. Check this out –> this was just in the last 5 days.

James has been busy with scaling our product so that it supports all of these awesome users and their dashboards!

Track Our Startup: Instagram Changes + Zapier Grows Your Dashboard

Advil MemeWe’re heads down here at Dasheroo with testing on our next release and it’s not without difficulty. New Insights for Facebook Ads and Google Adwords are giving us a bit of a headache…Advil to the rescue!

Changes Abound at Instagram

Instagram has changed their API policies which is giving a lot of companies like ours yet another headache. As a result they’ve taken back some of the data they have been providing to us. For this reason we are not allowed to offer the Instagram competitive insight which affects about 500 of our users. Sorry, we still have some great Instagram stats you can’t get for free at companies like Iconosquare!

Faster Updates to Your Dashboards

Some of our users have experienced stats updating a bit slow. We’ve identified the issue and over the course of the next few weeks we’ll be increasing throughput just a bit each day so we can monitor any scalability issues.

Zapier Makes Dasheroo Happier

Since we re-launched our Zapier integration with more data visualizations we not only are getting a huge spike of users using the Zapier integration and we HAD OUR BIGGEST DAY OF USERS EVER, but we also have a huge spike using our native integrations as well, pretty cool, I’d say. Thanks for the love Zapier! Alf our VP of Customer Success has been VERY busy needless to say.
Oh, why use Zapier? Look, we get hundreds of requests to integrate with different 3rd party applications and while we want to do every one of them, it’s simply not possible. BUT, Zapier has integrated with a TON of 3rd party applications and they make it very easy for you to use them to integrate your data from hundreds of apps right into your Dasheroo dashboard. So give it a whirl!

Here’s a Great Example of a Google Dashboard

Google is the king of free tools for marketing professionals. For example, we love the functionality and power of Google’s Keyword Planner. This is a tool we use day after day, and it’s really helped us take our business to the next level.

A Google dashboard is a great way to better understand your business. From traffic to advertising budgets to goals, the amount of data is never-ending.

If the time has come to create your first Google dashboard, here are three elements to include:

Google AdWords

If at any point you decide to spend money on AdWords advertising, it’s essential to track your results down to every last penny. And you want to track the ‘top of the funnel’, that is how much traffic your driving to your website to evenutally…convert.

Answer questions such as:

  • How much are you spending every day?
  • Which keywords are converting best?
  • What is your ROI?

It’s easy to spend money on AdWords. It’s not as easy to make money. By tracking data and results, you increase your chance of success.

Google Analytics

How do you know how much traffic your website is receiving? Do you understand your top traffic sources? What about your most visited pages?

At Dasheroo, we don’t spend money on Google Adwords (yet) but we do track exactly how many Sessions we get, how many users are responsible for those sessions.

On the dashboard below we include Google Users numbers so we can see how many new users vs. existing ones we get. We also use the “notes” feature so everyone is on the same page for what our conversion rates are.

Dasheroo Google Dashboard - Google Analytics

These are the types of questions you can answer by integrating Analytics into your Google dashboard.

Information like this will change the way you do business.

Google Sheets

Here’s what Google has to say about Sheets:

“With Google Sheets, you can create, edit, and collaborate wherever you are. For free.”

What more can you want? You can leave Excel spreadsheets in the past, instead relying on Sheets to create and collaborate. Through secure cloud storage, you can access all of your sheets from anywhere in the world, with any device.

At Dasheroo on our Google Dashboard you’ll find a ton of great KPIs we track.

We want to look at where we are to goal (we use Dasheroo’s countdown insight) and what our conversion rates are.

Dasheroo Google Dashboard - Google Sheets

Google Ecommerce

This is the ‘bottom of the funnel’ if you’re selling retail. You can track exactly how much you sold from all of that traffic you drove using Google Adwords (or not!)

At Dasheroo since we sell based on monthly subscriptions we use Stripe. However we put that information into a Google Sheet so we can track it all on one Google Dashboard. For us FTC means First Time Customer so we’re pretty happy we got to 100%!

Final Thoughts

At Dasheroo, we have long been a fan of Google’s many free tools. Furthermore, we want all our clients to realize what these tools can do for them. That’s why we have put so much time into helping you create the perfect Google dashboard! Get yours for free at Dasheroo!

Track Our Startup: Sendgrid Dashboards + New UI On The Way

We’ve been heads down getting releases out, getting our users to be active, getting sales in the door and getting the word out about Dasheroo because  every business needs business dashboards!Sendgrid Dasheroo dashboard

With our last release behind us, we’re moving on to the next one and this one is NO slouch. We’ll be releasing an integration we’ve had waiting in the wings, Sendgrid, and we’ve enhanced our pay-for-performance dashboards Facebook Ads and Google Adwords.

We’re also working on a brand new user interface! You’ll be able to get around your dashboards even easier than you do today.

We’ve also been hard at work on a larger release for those who need to manage roles and permissions as well as offering a per-user-based pricing. More to come on that as we get further along.

We’ll Take Your Seconds…

Our friendly competitors over at Iconosquare have gone mad! If you don’t know who they are they offer dashboards for Instagram and they’re pretty good. However, they’re moving away from their free version, forcing users to pay, and forcing users to sign up for the new version. I’m sure they have their reasons, but it’s something we may have avoided given the chance. That said, if you’re looking for an alternative to Iconosquare, Dasheroo would be happy to serve you!

Dasheroo Gets Great Press

Social media expert Carl Ramallo,  wrote, How to save TIME with these Top Social Media Management Tools and Suttida Yang, that awesome digital marketing consultant and CEO of Fast Markit, included us in her piece 11 Content Marketing Tools You Can’t Live Without. As always we thank you and we’re humbled.

That’s it for now!

Track Our Startup: Release On Its Way + April KPIs

We’ve got a bunch of releases in the queue and if you’ve been following us we have been wrestling a biggie to the ground. We plan on winning this match this week so stay tuned. Then we’ll be breaking the releases down into smaller chunks so we don’t have too many moving parts to handle. This release we lovingly call “p26.”Vision Quest KPIs
For p27 we’ve got a new data source and a few new nuggets on existing data sources. We’ll release Sendgrid as our new data source and we’ve got a host of new Google AdWords insights; one being a drill down to the Ad level. We’ve also got a few Facebook Ads insight improvements and a behind-the-scenes upgrade we had to do for the Mailchimp API.
Mimi, our Sales Director, is starting to pick up traction on  QUALITY demos. Demos are expensive and she’s doing a great job of setting pricing expectations in the email she is sending to people that sign up for more information on Dasheroo for Agencies ahead of scheduling a demo so that people aren’t surprised about pricing after the time is spent on both sides. Great job Mimi! So great I wrote my Startup Lessons Learned about it last week.
We’ve beat all of our KPIs last month. We’re tracking KPIs (revenue is one!) very closely on a day-to-day basis so there are not surprises, we’re pretty excited.
We got some great mentions last week in Fast Company 5 Ways to Keep Small Teams Efficient and on the HubSpot blog, 7 Client Reporting Tools That Will Save Your Company Time. Thanks guys!
Gotta run and grab lunch!
